"Love Your Depot" Exhibition
This was the 13th exhibition our art lighting experts had assisted the Korean Cultural Centre UK.
On this occasion, it was to provide professional art lighting expertise to Jewyo Rhii, who is the Korean Artist of the Year 2020.
For the "Love Your Depot" art exhibition all of the galleries were transformed using various stackable steel structures to replicate a typical storage depot.
Nonetheless, unlike a typical storage depot, the shelves supported numerous and diverse works of art, these included drawings, paintings, various sculptures and video installations.
As with all artists, the lighting of their works is of paramount importance. In this case, the artist wanted the gallery lighting to have an industrial feel to it, similar to what you would expect to see in a storage depot.
The artist had an exacting vision of how the lighting of the depot should appear. Consequently, our art lighting experts set up alternative lighting layouts for the artist to consider and approve.
To achieve the final art lighting solution our experts used cool LED light battens (6000K) which we had specified earlier for wall washing previous contemporary art exhibitions. These were connected to the existing lighting track which ran across all of the galleries, enabling the LED light battens to be plugged in wherever required.
The exhibition lighting approach was reinforced with the use of 6000K LED spotlights in those areas that require enhancement.
Both forms of light source were of museum quality with high CRI values to provide a true colour rendering for visitors to appreciate the various artworks on display.
The exhibition curator & Jewyo Rhii were both thrilled with the visual lighting and end results.
