Exhibition Designers & Lighting Design
New York Art Collector of Rare Photographic Images
China Exchange a new venue in the heart of London’s West End (China Town) contacted our design studios to provide lighting design consultancy.
This was for a 19th Century Rare Photographic exhibition of 32 images from the Qing Dynasty.
These rare photographic images showed various aspects of Peking life and architecture around 120 years ago.
Following our site visit, the New York curator contacted us directly, to discuss possible exhibition & lighting design options.
After many conversations, our lighting consultancy moved on to providing the curator and collector with a potential exhibition design layout. Our exhibition designers concept design would overcome the limitations of the space and show these rare 19th Century photographic images at their optimum.
This included designing free-standing temporary walls and the installation of focusable LED lighting of museum quality.
It was our exhibition designers first time working with this New York based collector, however quickly a good relationship was forged.
Over the next two months, they heavily relied on our design expertise for advice on almost all aspects of the exhibition. This included the design of graphics and marketing materials.
The exhibition was completed with a day in hand and to the delight of the collector, curator, scholars and the public.
The conclusion is that it is possible to produce a photographic exhibition design that is aesthetic, informative and beautifully illuminated in the shortest of time and for the smallest of budgets.
